Dr. Ketan M. Patel is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He has faculty appointments at USC University Hospital, USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, LAC+USC, and Verdugo Hills Hospital. Dr. Patelís clinical interests are in reconstructive surgery with special interests in breast surgery and reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, trunk and abdominal wall reconstruction, facial surgery, complex upper and lower extremity reconstruction and salvage, and surgery for facial paralysis. Dr. Patelís distinctive training background and expertise in reconstructive surgery has allowed him to offer unique solutions to difficult problems throughout the entire body.

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was then selected to complete an accelerated six-year integrated Plastic Surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he was chosen as the Administrative Chief Resident in his last year of training. Following his Plastic Surgery residency, he traveled to Taipei, Taiwan to complete the highly competitive Reconstructive Microsurgery fellowship program at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, under the guidance of Professor Fu-Chan Wei.

In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Patel remains active in his research contributions to the field of Plastic Surgery and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstract presentations at national and international meetings. His research is focused on patient-centered decision-making and treatment outcomes in multiple fields of reconstructive surgery, including breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, trunk reconstruction, and extremity reconstruction.
